Full-Day Nairobi Excursions: Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe Center & Nairobi National Park

Morning (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM): David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
Your day of urban wildlife encounters begins with a morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or residence. Your first destination is the world-renowned David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a pioneering elephant and rhino orphan rescue and rehabilitation project. To witness the most active and adorable part of their routine, you must arrive for the public viewing hour, which is strictly from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. During this unforgettable hour, you will watch as the baby elephants (and sometimes a young rhino) are brought out from the forest for their midday mud bath and milk feeding. The dedicated keepers will share the heartwarming and often heartbreaking story of each orphan, explaining the threats they face and the Trust's vital work in rewilding them. This is a profound and intimate wildlife experience found nowhere else in the world.

Midday (12:15 PM - 1:15 PM): Giraffe Centre
A short drive away is the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) Giraffe Centre, a conservation and education center focused on the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. Here, you get the unique chance to come eye-to-eye with these gentle giants. From a raised wooden platform, you can hand-feed them specially prepared pellets, an incredible photo opportunity as their long, dark tongues curl gently to take food from your palm. Learn about the centre's successful breeding program and their efforts to release giraffes into protected wild areas across Kenya.

Lunch (1:30 PM - 2:30 PM)
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a carefully selected restaurant, often with beautiful gardens or a view. Popular choices include the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden or the Utamaduni Centre, which also offers excellent boutique shopping for authentic African crafts and artifacts.

Afternoon (3:00 PM - 5:30 PM): Nairobi National Park Game Drive
Your adventure culminates with a thrilling contrast: a classic African game drive within Nairobi National Park. Just a stone's throw from the city skyline, this is the world's only wildlife capital park. In your private vehicle with a pop-up roof, you'll explore its open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and valleys. Search for a remarkable variety of wildlife against the surreal backdrop of city buildings. Commonly seen animals include lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and over 400 species of birds. The park is also a key sanctuary for the black rhino, offering a good chance of a sighting. Your guide will navigate the best routes for sightings, concluding your drive as the afternoon light turns golden.

Evening (6:00 PM): Return & Drop-off
